Do you know a good road from Laredo TX to Denver CO ? I am driving in JUNE with 3 little kids.?
I have 3 options. One to Dallas and Oklahoma City (US 35), and then turning west to Denver in Salina Kansas . This one is 2hrs longer in time, but it is only using Interestate main highways.
The other is the one Yahoo maps gives. Driving close to the Rio Grande from Laredo to Del Rio, TX, and then to Denver via Carlsberg and Roswel NM. This one is the shortest in KM, but it appears to me it uses much smaller roads and I dont know if I will find services on the way (you know, with 3 kids).
The third one is via US 35 from Laredo to San Antonio. Then to Abilene, TX, Lubbock, Amarillo TX and then Raton NM, and then North to Denver. This one is half an hour longer, but it appears to be using bigger roads, and maybe more services?

I would avoid the river route because of the kids. There are very, very long stretches of nothing. Even cranked up to 85 time just seems to stop in that area. The I35 route is the way I would go with kids. It might even end up faster than the other roads.
Take the river route as a trip in itself sometime. It does have a lot of beauty but not much in the way of gas stations and restrooms and if you are down there on a Sunday food becomes a problem.
